Antoine El Sayegh Antoine El Sayegh

As founder of Gloria Hotels & Resorts, the group’s president, Antoine Sayegh, remains firmly committed to his vision of a value-for-money philosophy of “offering five-star hotel facilities and services at four-star prices”. Under Sayegh’s steady hand, the group also remains focused on growth in the Middle East, continuing to operate family-oriented, alcohol-free properties.

To this end, the past year saw Sayegh and his team secure a number of hotel deals for the Gloria Hotel brand pipeline, including three in Dubai, with properties coming up in Business Bay, Jumeirah Village Circle, and Al Nahda, as well as one in Mafraq, Abu Dhabi and one in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Under Sayegh’s leadership, sustainability has moved to the fore as a critical priority for the company, applying Green Globe principles in improving economic, social, and environmental stability. Green initiatives have been undertaken, carbon footprint per occupied room has been lowered, and food and waste reduction has been achieved through the modification of the hotels’ recycling programmes. Initiated by Sayegh and implemented by the group’s senior leadership, sustainability has become an important element within Sayegh’s wider vision for the company.

In 2017, Gloria Hotels & Resorts was awarded a Green Globe certification for a second consecutive time, after generating savings of AED 2.2m (US $590,000) in electricity and water bills. Energy savings of more than 8,580 megawatt hours and 54,000m3 of water have been achieved, and carbon emissions were cut by 4,400 tonnes.

Under Sayegh’s guidance, the hotel group has also developed a loyalty programme for guests, offering discounts on room rates, dining, and spa treatments.

“The backbone of my success is the loyal and hardworking team who work at Gloria Hotels & Resorts,” Sayegh says.
